Litigation brought by Mary Braziel, who sued Judice's French Market & Deli after tripping on a "dangerous" rug while shopping, has been slated for a summer trial.
As previously reported, the suit was filed May 24, 2011, in Jefferson County District Court.
Court records show that on Jan. 6 a discovery control plan order was filed, setting the case on the court's July trial docket.
The DCO also calls for the case to mediated on or before June 30.
The lawsuit alleges that on Nov. 17, 2009, Braziel was shopping at the Port Arthur store. She was walking through the meat isle when she tripped on the rug.
Judice's French Market negligently failed to inspect and maintain its premises, warn shoppers of dangerous condition and remedy the hazard, the suit alleges.
Braziel is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.
Bellaire attorney Paul Higdon of Stern, Miller & Higdon represents her.
Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, is assigned to the case.
