A Port Arthur woman claims she suffered serious personal injuries after a driver rear-ended her vehicle.
Emma Allen filed a lawsuit May 25 in Jefferson County District Court against Samuel M. Arterburn.
In her complaint, Allen claims she stopped at a traffic light on July 27, 2010, when Arterburn rear-ended her vehicle.
Because of the collision, in addition to her injuries, Allen incurred medical costs; experienced physical pain, suffering, physical impairment, mental anguish and disfigurement and lost her earning capacity, according to the complaint.
She blames Arterburn for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to control his speed, drove too fast, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep a safe distance between his vehicle and Allen's and failed to swerve to avoid a collision, among other negligent acts.
In her complaint, Allen seeks actual damages, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.
Ryan C. Scott of The Scott Law Firm in Beaumont will be representing her.
Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, has been assigned to the case.
