A slip-and-fall lawsuit against Sabir Inc. recently settled.
As previously reported, Port Arthur resident Tomika Stevenson sued the owner of Stop N' Drive No. 7, on May 5, 2011, alleging water leaking from the store's cooler caused her to slip.
Court records show that a joint motion for dismissal with prejudice was filed April 4, stating that the parties have reached a settlement agreement.
Five days later, Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, granted the motion, dismissing Sabir.
According to the lawsuit, on April 27, 2010, Stevenson was shopping at the Port Arthur convenient store "when she slipped and fell in water that was on the floor that was leaking from the cooler."
The suit alleged the defendant should have inspected and maintained its premises and warned patrons of the hazard.
Stevenson was suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.
She was represented in part by Beaumont attorney Tom Oxford of Waldman Smallwood.
