A South Carolina corporation claims it lost more than $2 million after it provided labor and materials to a company that refused to pay for its services.
Industrial Services Group, doing business as Universal Blastco, claims it worked as a subcontractor for defendants Titan Contracting and Leasing Co. and Bechtel Jacobs CEP Port Arthur.
As subcontractor, Universal Blastco provided labor and materials to help complete the blasting and painting of six tanks at Motiva Port Arthur Refinery owned by defendant Motiva Enterprises, according to the complaint filed June 5 in Jefferson County District Court.
After completing its job, Universal Blastco invoiced the defendants for its work, but never received payment, the suit states.
"As a result, Titan Contracting is liable to Plaintiff for the principal amount of $2,045,080.39," the complaint says.
It alleges breach of contract and seeks a foreclosure of a mechanic's lien.
In addition to the money it says it is owed and the foreclosure, Industrial is seeking attorney's fees, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.
Kelly M. Massad of Scheef & Stone in Frisco will be representing it.
The case has been assigned to Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court.
