Motorist struck while turning, sues

Area resident Lorann Fontnette is suing Jason Balsamo, a Nederland resident, for allegedly failing to yield and causing an automobile collision.

The suit was filed June 7 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Dec. 22, 2011, Fontnette was traveling south on US 69 and entered a medium to turn east onto 26th Street when Balsamo entered the intersection and struck her vehicle and left the scene.

The suit accuses the defendant of negligently failing to yield the right of way and keep a proper lookout.

On top of exemplary damages, the plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Clay Dugas represents her.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, is assigned to the case.
