Illinois man files suit in Beaumont after UPR equipment malfunction

An Illinois railroad worker is suing Union Pacific Railroad, alleging he was struck by a malfunctioning hydraulic arm.

Willie Love filed the suit June 27 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, Love was injured on March 6, 2011, when the hydraulic arm on the track machine he was working on malfunctioned, knocking the windshield off the machine and striking him, injuring his head, face, eyes, neck and spine.

The suit alleges UPR negligently failed to inspect and maintain its equipment and provide Love with a safe workplace.

Love is suing for lost wages, medical expenses and mental anguish.

The Law Offices of Glibert T. Adams represents him.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, is assigned to the case.
