A Beaumont woman has filed suit against her insurance company, alleging it refuses to pay her for damages she sustained during a collision.
Allison Sprong claims she was driving west on the 5500 block of College Street in Jefferson County on Aug. 23, 2009, when a vehicle driven by an unknown driver suddenly struck her driver's side door.
As a result of the collision, Sprong sustained injuries, according to the complaint filed July 2 in Jefferson County District Court.
Following the accident, Sprong requested compensation from defendant Geico Insurance. At the time, she had an insurance policy through Geico that was supposed to provide up to $25,000 in protection coverage for uninsured motorists, the suit states.
However, Geico failed to fully compensate her for her injuries even though she has complied with all of its requests, the complaint says.
In her complaint, Sprong alleges breach of contract, unfair insurance practices, breach of duty of good faith and fair dealing and negligence against Geico.
Sprong is seeking a judgment for her damages, plus pre-judgment interest at the legal rate, costs, attorney's fees and other relief the court deems just.
Gary Gibson of San Antonio will be representing her.
The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
