Kroger sued for woman's slip and fall

Thomas

Alleging she was injured when she slipped and fell, area resident Alecia Brown, 46, has filed a slip and fall lawsuit against the Kroger Co. and grocery store employee Mark Richel.

The suit was filed Aug. 2 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on July 11 Brown was shopping at the Beaumont Kroger. While walking through the front area of the store, Brown slipped in a substance that had leaked from a Coca Cola cooler.

"There were no signs warning customers of the leak and a Kroger employee had not yet mopped up the liquid," the suit states.

The suit alleges the defendants negligently failed to clean up the liquid and place warning signs around the area.

The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish and emotional distress, plus all court costs, including attorney's fees.

She also seeks pre-judgment and post-judgment interest.

Houston attorney Linda Thomas of Thomas & Wan represents her.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, is assigned to the case.
