A Pasadena resident has filed suit against the driver who allegedly ran a red light and struck his vehicle.
Christopher P.J. Abrego claims he was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Dowlen Road and Old Dowlen Road in Beaumont on April 27. After the light turned green, Abrego checked to make sure no vehicles were approaching the intersection, then proceeded through, according to the complaint filed Sept. 4 in Jefferson County District Court.
“At this time, defendant came flying through the intersection running the red light heading southbound on Old Dowlen Road into the mall parking area,” the suit states.
Because of the collision, Abrego sustained injuries to his neck, shoulders, arms and back, the complaint says.
In his complaint, Abrego is seeking actual damages and $100,000 for his injuries, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs, lost wages and a loss of his earning capacity.
C. Chad Pinkerton and Jose Luis Orihuela of Houston will be representing him.
The case has been assigned to Judge Miton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
