Two Jefferson County residents claim they sustained injuries after a driver failed to yield the right-of-way at a stop sign.

Gregory and Karen Mann filed a lawsuit Sept. 5 in Jefferson County District Court against Terry Fontenot.

In their complaint, the Manns allege they drove east on 25th Street in Groves on March 25 when Fontenot failed to yield the right-of-way at a stop sign and struck their vehicle.

In addition to their injuries, the Manns incurred medical costs, experienced mental anguish, lost wages and endured physical impairment because of the collision, according to the complaint.

They blame Fontenot for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to yield the right-of-way and drove inattentively, the suit states.

In their complaint, the Manns seek a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus costs, pre- and post-judgment interest and other relief the court deems just.

Clay Dugas and Reginald Blakeley of Beaumont will be representing them.

The case has been assigned to Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court.
