Cheddar’s hit with slip & fall suit

Caution wet floor

Area resident Mary Jones has filed a slip and fall lawsuit against Wow Food Concepts, better known as Cheddar’s, for injuries she received two years ago.

The suit was filed Sept. 14 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Sept. 15, 2010, Jones entered the Beaumont Cheddar’s to eat food when she slipped and fell on a slippery floor.

“No warning signs were placed to warn of the dangerously slippery floor,” the suit states. “No mats were placed over the dangerously slippery floor and plaintiff was given no other verbal or visual warnings of the dangerous condition of the slippery floor.”

In her suit, Jones alleges she required medical attention after she fell.

The suit accuses Cheddar’s of failing to cure the hazard.

The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain and disfigurement, plus all court costs.

She is seeking damages in an amount not to exceed $200,000.

San Antonio attorney Thomas Ard of the Carabin & Shaw law firm represents her.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, is assigned to the case.
