Jasper resident Melissa Armstrong, who bought an area home to save it from demolition, is seeking a temporary restraining order against the city of Beaumont.
The petition and application for TRO and injunction was filed Sept. 14 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the petition, on Aug. 31 Armstrong purchased a home located at 2340 Long Street in Beaumont, which the city had declared a dilapidated structure and slated for demolition.
“Plaintiff purchased the home to save the home from demolition and to remodel and renovate the home to its past historical roots,” the petition states.
In her suit, Armstrong says she will suffer irreparable injury unless the defendant is enjoined.
In addition to the TRO, Armstrong is also seeking court costs.
She is representing herself.
Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, is assigned to the case.
