Seeking to recoup the benefits it paid to an insured following a collision, Progressive County Mutual Insurance has filed suit against Corey and Devonna Plummer.

The suit was filed Sept. 17 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Nov. 5, 2010, a motor vehicle owned by Progressive’s insured, Annie Burrell, was damaged in a collision caused by Corey near the 5400 block of Dowlen Road in Beaumont.

The suit accuses Corey of negligently failing to keep a proper lookout, which caused the collision and Progressive’s damages in the amount of $3,562.

The owner of the vehicle was Devonna. She is faulted with negligent entrustment.

Progressive is suing for actual damages, interest and cost of suit.

Richardson attorney Patrick Clerkin of the Javitch, Block & Rathbone law firm represents the company.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, is assigned to the case.
