A Chambers County woman claims she experienced physical pain and mental suffering after a Beaumont driver failed to keep a proper lookout and struck her vehicle.
Junietta Franzen filed a lawsuit Sept. 18 in Jefferson County District Court against Mary K. Alton.
In her complaint, Franzen alleges she incurred medical costs; suffered from physical impairment, physical disfigurement and emotional distress; and lost her ability to enjoy life because of a collision that occurred Aug. 29, 2011, in Jefferson County.
Franzen blames Alton for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove too fast, failed to yield the right-of-way, lacked proper control and failed to timely apply her brakes.
In her complaint, Franzen is seeking a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.
Matthew W. Morgan of Reaud, Morgan and Quinn in Beaumont will be representing her.
The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
