A Beaumont man has filed suit against the driver who he claims rear-ended his vehicle.
John Scott Steele claims he was driving east on Dowlen Road in Beaumont on Aug. 9, 2011, at about 6:30 p.m., when defendant Doreen Gibson failed to control her vehicle and struck the back of Steele’s automobile.
Because of the collision, Steele suffered physical pain, mental anguish and physical impairment and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed Sept. 18 in Jefferson County District Court.
Gibson negligently failed to control her speed, failed to maintain a proper lookout, failed to timely apply her brakes, failed to take proper precautions to control her vehicle, failed to drive in a prudent manner and drove inattentively, the suit states.
Steele is seeking a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest and other relief the court deems just.
E. Hart Green of Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell in Beaumont will be representing him.
The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
