Chevron Phillips Chemical has filed suit against the Jefferson County Appraisal District, alleging it is charging the company too much in taxes.
In its complaint, Chevron Phillips Chemical claims the Jefferson County Appraisal District valued its property at an excessive rate. In turn, Chevron is paying too much in taxes, according to the complaint filed Oct. 1 in Jefferson County District Court.
Chevron is asking the court to render a judgment against the district. It also seeks an order that the district adjust the appraised value of the property and a judgment for costs, attorney’s fees and other relief the court deems just.
Melissa Ramirez and David Hugin of Popp Hutcheson in Austin will be representing it.
The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
