Two men claim they incurred medical costs after a driver failed to yield the right-of-way at an intersection and struck their vehicle.

Oscar Telford and John Warren claim they were traveling south in the 1000 block of Texas Avenue in Bridge City and approaching its intersection with North John Street on Aug. 31 when the incident with defendant Anthony Prudhomme occurred.

“As plaintiffs entered the intersection, defendant Prudhomme attempted to make his turn, failed to yield the right-of-way, and struck plaintiff’s vehicle,” the suit filed Oct. 12 in Jefferson County District Court states. “After the initial impact, plaintiffs’ vehicle was propelled into another vehicle where it came to a stop.”

Because of the collision, Telford and Warren sustained substantial injuries and were transported to the emergency room, according to the complaint. They also incurred medical costs; experienced mental anguish, physical pain, suffering and disability; lost their enjoyment of life; lost their earning capacities; and suffered physical impairment, the complaint says.

Telford and Warren blame Prudhomme for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to drive in a reasonable manner, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to yield the right-of-way and failed to control his speed.

The plaintiffs also name All-Tex Pipe and Supply, which employed Prudhomme, as a defendant.

Telford and Warren seek an unspecified judgment, plus costs, pre- and post-judgment interest and other relief the court deems just.

The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
