Woman files suit in attempt to keep property

Deed

A woman claims she rightfully owns the piece of Jefferson County property that her relatives are attempting to take from her.

Carolyn Wright filed a lawsuit Oct. 23 in Jefferson County District Court against Beverly Wright Mickles, Elton G. Wright and Ashley Wright Wills.

In her complaint, Carolyn Wright alleges she began occupying a piece of Jefferson County property since Nov. 25, 1998. She acquired the property after Sidney Wright’s death and has paid taxes on it since then, according to the complaint.

Now, the defendants say they have a right to the title of the property, the suit states. Carolyn Wright filed the suit in an attempt to fight the defendants’ claims to possession of the property.

She seeks a judgment for the title of the property, plus damages, attorney’s fees and other relief the court deems just.

Eddie R. Schroeder of Beaumont will be representing her.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.

Case No. A193-393
