Alleging an intravenous infiltration caused burns two years ago, Gary Vaughn and Annette Vaughn has filed suit against Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.
The suit was filed Nov. 2 in Jefferson County District Court. Vaughn's wife Annette Vaughn is also a plaintiff.
According to the lawsuit, on Nov. 7, 2010, Vaughn was admitted to Baptist Beaumont. During the hospitalization, he sustained severe burns and injuries to his arm and hand from an infiltration of IV dopamine.
The suit accused the defendant of failing to provide Vaughn with proper care, allowing the IV dopamine to infiltrate and also causing the burns.
The malicious and negligent conduct of the defendant’s agents entitles plaintiffs to punitive damages, the suit says.
Vaughn is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages.
Annette Vaughn is suing for loss of consortium and household services.
Orange attorney David Dies of Dies & Parkhurst represents the plaintiffs.
Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, is assigned to the case.
