Caesar’s Palace seeks to collect judgment against Beaumont inmate

Caesars palace night

Famed Las Vegas casino and hotel Caesar’s Palace has filed a petition to enforce a foreign judgment against a man currently incarcerated in Beaumont.

The petition was filed Nov. 19 in Jefferson County District Court against Sade Amier, an inmate at the Beaumont Medium Correctional Institution.

According to the petition, on Jan. 19, 2011, a Clark County District Court in Nevada entered a judgment against Amier in the amount of $687,589 (Clark County Case No. A-11-638026-c). The default judgment included $385,000 judgment, $290,367 in interest, $1,250 in attorney's fees and $542 in other costs.

“Defendant has not appealed the judgment, and the time for filing any such appeals has expired,” the suit states. “Therefore, the judgment is now final, conclusive and enforceable.”

Amier has allegedly refused to pay the judgment.

Caesar’s Palace is asking that it be awarded entry of the judgment, the suit states.

Attorney Herbert Giles of the Dallas law firm Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard Smith represents it.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, is assigned to the case.

Case No. D193-613
