While employed by Qualitech Maintenance, Richard Gipson Jr. suffered an on-the-job injury while at DuPont’s local facility.
Alleging DuPont failed to supervise him, Gipson filed suit against the company on Dec. 14 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, sometime in February 2011 Gipson was working for the subcontractor at DuPont’s facility when he was injured while operating a machine cutting rubber bales.
The suit is unclear on how exactly Gipson was injured.
The suit accuses DuPont of negligently failing to provide safety equipment, supervise him, warn him of the dangers and remedy the dangerous condition.
The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment and lost wages.
B. Adam Terrell of Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell in Beaumont represents him.
Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, is assigned to the case.
