The Jefferson County Morgue has been nonsuited from a claim brought by Sabrina Whitney, who sought possession of her fiancée’s corpse.
As previously reported, the petition was filed April 25 in Jefferson County District Court.
Court records show the notice of nonsuit was filed April 30, only five days after the petition was filed.
According to the petition, on April 23 Sean Steiner’s body was discovered in a Port Arthur canal.
Whitney, who has two children with Steiner and represented to others that they intended to marry, filed the injunction to stop the body from being released to someone else.
According to reports in the Port Arthur News, the Port Arthur Police Department found the body of 43-year-old Steiner in the water near the intersection of Texas 73 and Texas 69 in Port Arthur.
Steiner and Whitney operated a popular pet grooming business in Nederland.
Whitney is represented by Port Arthur attorney Brandon Monk.
Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, is assigned to the case.
