Child who broke arm at playground receives $30K settlement

Following five months of litigation, Ethan Blount, a minor who broke his arm when another child fell on him at a playground, has received a $30,000 settlement.

As next of friend, Anna Wilson filed suit on Blount’s behalf against All Aboard Learning Center on May 21 in Jefferson County District Court.

A final judgment was entered in the case on Oct. 12, showing the defendant agreed to a $30,000 settlement, court records show.

Plaintiffs’ attorney Jonathan Juhan of Beaumont will receive $9,700 in fees from the $30,000 settlement.

The lawsuit alleged that on May 21, 2010, Blount was in the care of All Aboard when he broke his right arm after another child fell on him at the playground.

The suit did not list a specific act of negligence allegedly committed by the defendant.

Houston attorney William Book of Tekell, Book, Allen & Morris represents the defendant.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, is assigned to the case.
