Union Pacific Railroad Co. has been dismissed from a personal injury suit.
As previously reported, Beaumont resident Walter Williams III filed suit against his employer, UPR, on Oct. 25, 2011, in Jefferson County District Court, claiming occupational injuries.
Court records show that on April 17 a discovery control plan order was entered in the case, calling for the suit to be mediated before or on Nov. 12, 2012, or face a December trial.
On Nov. 6 Williams filled a motion to dismiss, stating he no longer wished to pursue his claims against the company.
Ten days later Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, granted the motion, dismissing UPR with prejudice, court records show.
The suit alleged Williams experienced cumulative trauma throughout his career with UP. However, the suit does not describe Williams’ alleged injuries, nor does the suit say how UP negligently caused them.
Williams was suing for past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs, according to the suit.
Houston attorneys Steve Young and John Tavormina represent him.
