Man injured during collision, according to court documents

A Port Arthur man has filed suit against the driver who he claims failed to keep a proper lookout and struck his vehicle.

Arthur Harrison claims he was driving on Highway 73 in Port Arthur on Dec. 2, 2011, when defendant Justin Jamal Washington failed to control his speed and struck Harrison’s vehicle.

Because of the collision, Harrison incurred medical costs and experienced extreme physical pain, suffering, mental anguish, disfigurement and physical impairment, according to the complaint filed Jan. 10 in Jefferson County District Court.

Justin Jamal Washington negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to control his speed and drove inattentively, the suit states.

In addition to Justin Jamal Washington, Harrison names Walter Washington as a defendant, saying he owned the vehicle belonging to Justin Jamal Washington.

In his complaint, Harrison is seeking an unspecified judgment, plus interest at the legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.

James E. Payne, Jennifer Job Seale and Ronnie Turner Jr. of Provost and Umphrey Law Firm in Beaumont will be representing him.

The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.

Case No. D193-810
