BP oil & gas royalty suit dismissed

A lawsuit against BP America over oil and gas lease royalties has been dismissed.

As previously reported, plaintiffs Thomas Lee Jr., Margaret and Janet Isaacks, Lucy Lamme, Lana Cureton, Donna Lee and Irene Pagan filed suit against BP and Cimarex Energy on March 14, 2011, in Jefferson Court District Court.

Court records show that an agreed motion to dismiss was filed Aug. 7, stating that the dispute had been settled.

A week later, Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, issued an order of dismissal with prejudice on Aug. 16.

The plaintiffs claimed BP and co-defendant Cimarex Energy have failed and refused to honor their nonparticipating royalty interest and have refused to pay any royalty to them.

They were seeking declaratory relief and an award of damages sustained.

Houston attorney Mano Deayala of Buck Keenan represents them.

Woodlands attorney Craig Stahl of Andrews Kurth represents BP.
