A woman claims she incurred medical costs after a driver attempted to exit a private drive and struck her vehicle.
Danyale Brown filed a lawsuit Jefferson County District Court against Derrick Glenn Smith.
In her complaint, Brown claims she drove west in the 7300 block of State Highway 105 in Jefferson County when Smith exited out of a private drive and struck her vehicle.
In addition to her medical costs, Brown experienced physical pain and suffering, endured physical impairment and sustained mental anguish because of the collision, according to the complaint.
She blames Smith for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to yield the right-of-way.
In her complaint, Brown is seeking a judgment for unspecified damages within the jurisdictional limits Jefferson County District Court, plus pre-judgment interest at the maximum rate allowed by law, post-judgment interest at the legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.
Chris M. Portner and J. Trenton Bond of Portner Bond in Beaumont will be representing her.
Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
