Suit filed over pit bull attack dismissed

Litigation brought by Katherine Welch, who contended she needs plastic surgery after Jessie Peterson Jr.’s pit bull bit her in the face, has been dismissed.

Welch filed suit against Peterson, a Port Neches resident, on Sept. 14, 2011, in Jefferson County District Court.

Court records show that on Jan. 31 Welch filed a motion to dismiss, stating she no longer wished to pursue her claims against Peterson.

On Feb. 1 Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, granted the motion, dismissing Peterson.

The suit states that the alleged attack occurred on Aug. 19, 2011.

“Plaintiff was bitten in the face and will require plastic surgery,” the suit states, adding that Peterson negligently caused the incident by failing to restrain the pit bull.

The plaintiff was suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Dan Ducote Jr. of Moore Landrey represented her.
