A company has filed suit against the business that it claims owes it more than $100,000 for a house it built.
SBS Industrial Services claims it built a house on Angelina Street in Beaumont. Defendant Helbig Community Development Corp. owned the property and had hired SBS Industrial to construct the building, according to the complaint filed April 17 in Jefferson County District Court.
After the construction was completed, however, Helbig failed to pay SBS for its work, the suit states.
“There remains due and owing to plaintiff the sum of $117,531, which defendant failed to pay and refuses to pay, although plaintiff has made proper demand for payment of such sum,” the complaint says.
In addition to the money SBS claims it is owed, it seeks attorney’s fees, a judgment decreeing that it has a lien on the property, an order of foreclosure of the lien, an order of sale of the property, post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.
H.P. Wright of Wright and Pitre in Port Neches will be representing it.
The case has been assigned to Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court.
