The parents of a man claim they watched a driver disregard a stop sign and violently collide with their son’s vehicle.
Bill and Karen Spillers and their son, John Spillers, filed a lawsuit April 18 in Jefferson County District Court against Sarah Elizabeth Wiggins.
In their complaint, Bill and Karen Spillers allege they were driving behind their son, John Spillers, near Highway 77 and Interstate 10 Access Road in Schulenberg on April 21, 2011, when Wiggins failed to comply with a stop sign and struck John Spillers’s vehicle.
Because of the collision, John Spillers suffered physical pain and mental anguish, incurred medical costs, endured physical impairment and physical disfigurement and lost wages and his earning capacity, according to the complaint.
The Spillers blame Wiggins for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to keep her vehicle under proper control, drove too fast, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to yield the right-of-way, failed to timely apply her brakes and failed to comply with a stop sign.
In their judgment, the Spillers seek an unspecified judgment, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.
