A Nederland woman claims she suffered severe injuries when a driver collided with her vehicle as she was stopped in traffic.
Mariann Curtice filed a lawsuit May 17 in Jefferson County District Court against Mariah Walker.
In her complaint, Curtice claims she was waiting at a standstill in her vehicle in Nederland on Dec. 7, 2011, when Walker suddenly struck her.
Because of the collision, Curtice sustained injuries, according to the complaint.
Curtice blames Walker for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to timely apply her brakes, failed to keep her vehicle under proper control, failed to maintain control of her vehicle and failed to control her speed.
In her complaint, Curtice seeks a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus costs, pre- and post-judgment interest at the legal rate and other relief the court deems just.
Mitchell A. Toups of Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell in Beaumont will be representing her.
Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, has been assigned to the case.
