Seeking to recover more than $10,000 on a delinquent account, American Express Centurion Bank has filed suit against Beaumont local William Peters.
The suit was filed July 26 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, the parties entered into a card member agreement, in which American Express made cash advances to the defendant.
The suit does not state when the agreement was agreed upon.
“Defendant has failed to repay all of the advances made under the agreement,” the suit states. “The current balance due … totals $10,369.40.”
The suit accuses the defendant of breaching his contract and unjust enrichment.
American Express is suing for actual damages, interest and attorney’s fees.
Houston attorney Donald DeGrasse of Degrasse & Rolnick represents the plaintiff.
Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, is assigned to the case.
