Area resident Benitris Edwards has filed suit against E.I. DuPont de Nemours, alleging a hose exploded in her face while she was working at the Jefferson County facility two years ago.
The suit was filed July 26 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, on July 28, 2011, Edwards, a United Sabine employee, was working at DuPont’s facility when a hose exploded in her face, releasing toxic fumes and causing her to fall and lose consciousness.
The suit accuses DuPont of negligently failing to provide a safe workplace and provide adequate safety equipment.
On top of exemplary and punitive damages, the plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain and lost wages.
Attorney Donald Worley of the Houston law firm McDonald Worley represents her.
Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, is assigned to the case.
