Man seeks damages following collision

A Port Arthur man claims he suffered injuries in an automobile collision when a driver failed to remain in a single lane.

Jesse Dennis claims he was driving on July 19, 2011, when defendant Johnny Ray Hill collided with his vehicle after failing to remain in a single lane.

Because of the accident, Dennis experienced physical pain, suffering and mental anguish; endured physical impairment; and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint. He also lost wages, the suit states.

Dennis blames Hill for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to drive within a single lane, failed to look out for traffic, failed to control his speed, failed to maintain an appropriate stopping distance and failed to adequately apply his brakes, among other negligent actions.

In his complaint, Dennis seeks a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus punitive damages, pre- and post-judgment interest at the legal rate, attorneys’ fees, costs and other relief the court deems just.

David Dies of Dies and Parkhurst in Orange will be representing him.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
