A Beaumont woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims turned into oncoming traffic and collided with her vehicle.
Torri D. Young claims defendant Robert J. Sharp turned into oncoming traffic and struck her vehicle on Oct. 7, 2011.
Because of the collision, Young sustained serious injuries that have required ongoing medical attention, incurred medical costs and experienced physical pain and suffering, according to the complaint filed Aug. 5 in Jefferson County District Court.
She also endured mental anguish, lost wages and her earning capacity, suffered disfigurement and physical impairment and incurred property damages, the suit states.
Sharp negligently failed to control his speed, drove too fast, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep a safe distance between her vehicle and Sharp’s, failed to swerve to avoid a collision, failed to bring the vehicle he was operating to a stop, failed to timely apply his brakes, failed to observe traffic signals and drove carelessly, the complaint says.
In her complaint, Young seeks actual damages within the jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest at the highest legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.
Ryan C. Scott of The Scott Law Firm in Beaumont will be representing her.
The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court.
