While moving trash aboard a vessel, Emma Young fell and injured her back.
On Aug. 8, Young filed suit against Atwood Oceanics and Aramark Corp. in Jefferson County District Court, alleging she was not provided with proper safety equipment.
According to the lawsuit, on May 10 Young was employed by Aramark and may have been a borrowed seaman for Atwood, assigned to the Atwood Condor.
While the vessel was deployed, Young injured her back when she fell while moving trash.
The suit accuses the defendants off negligently failing to supervise, train, and provide adequate safety equipment and a safe place to work, and also maintain the vessel.
The suit does not state how Young fell.
The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment and lost wages.
She is represented by attorney Jason Itkin of the Houston law firm Arnold & Itkin.
Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court, is assigned to the case.
