Petition seeking to investigate injury at Chevron-Phillips dismissed

In May, James and Jackqulen McBride filed a petition for authorization to conduct depositions, seeking to investigate a personal injury that allegedly occurred at Chevron-Phillips Chemical Co.

On June 19 they filed a motion for nonsuit, which was granted by Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, five days later, court records show.

According to the petition filed May 20 in Jefferson County District Court, on April 9 James was injured while working at Chevron-Phillip’s facility.

At the time, James was unable to relay the circumstances of his injuries, and depositions were needed to investigate a potential lawsuit.

The petitioners had requested a court order to depose of all people who may have knowledge of the incident.

Beaumont attorney Paul "Chip" Ferguson Jr. of Provost Umphrey represented them.

Case No. A194-361
