HOUSTON - Four Harris County residents have filed a lawsuit over an apparent two-vehicle accident in Louisiana, recent court documents say.
Reynaldo Lara, Maite Rodriguez, Yanelis Segura Ramirez and Glersis Carcases brought the suit against Greenwood Motor Lines Inc., R&L Carriers Inc. and Scott, La., resident Robert Washington in Harris County District Court last month.
The case was removed to the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas on Sept. 20.
At the time of the subject event on Aug. 7, 2012, Lara was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu with Rodriguez, Ramirez and Carcases as his passengers on I-10 East outside of Arcadia Parish.
Meanwhile, Washington was operating a 2004 18-wheeler with a 2000 Great DanBox trailer attached "directly" behind the plaintiffs.
According to the suit, Washington then crashed into the rear of the Malibu and pushed it "to the right side of the roadway through the south side ditch and onto the frontage road."
Police determined that Washington had failed to control speed and was "careless" in his operation of a motor vehicle.
Consequently, the claimants seek unspecified monetary damages.
They are represented by attorney Corey Gomel of Gomel & Associates PC in Houston.
