Area resident Stanley Hatcher has filed suit against Dez-Tex Developer, alleging a roof the company put up was improperly installed.

The suit was filed Sept. 11 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Oct. 5, 2008, the parties entered into an oral contract, in which the defendant agreed to construct a new roof on the plaintiff’s Beaumont property for $8,080.

Although the plaintiff performed all obligations under the contract, the defendant failed to properly install the roof and now the plaintiff cannot obtain a Texas Windstorm certificate and windstorm insurance, the suit states.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant breached its contract.

The plaintiff is seeking an award for his damages, interest, court costs and attorney’s fees.

B. Adam Terrell of Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell in Beaumont will be representing him.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court, is assigned to the case.
