SHERMAN - A warehouse worker has filed a lawsuit against a Collin County business claiming that he was not paid overtime wages.
Cornelius Chaffee filed suit against AMS-TAOS USA Inc. on Sept. 30 in the Eastern District of Texas, Sherman Division.
Chaffee worked for the defendant from Feb. 25 to Aug. 5 as a warehouse coordinator. He claims that during his employment he worked in excess of 40 hours and was not paid at one and one-half times his regular rate of pay for each overtime hour worked.
The defendant is accused of violating the Fair Labor Standards Act, which prohibits the denial of overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per workweek.
The plaintiff is seeking an award of actual, compensatory, and liquidated damages, attorney’s fees, court costs and interest.
Chaffee is represented by Austin attorneys Charles L. Scalise and Daniel B. Ross. A jury trial is requested.
U.S. District Judge Ron Clark is assigned to the case.
