Area resident Sherry McCoy has filed a slip and fall lawsuit against Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, alleging she slipped on some food.
The suit was filed Oct. 10 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, McCoy was a visitor at the defendant’s facility when she slipped and fell on food, causing her to injure her back.
The suit does not state when the incident occurred or where or what the McCoy was doing at the time.
The suit accuses Baptist Hospitals of knowing of the dangerous condition and failing to correct the hazard.
The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain and impairment, plus court costs.
Port Arthur attorney Carl Parker represents the plaintiff.
Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, is assigned to the case.
