Area resident Jose Torres is suing the city of Beaumont in hopes of stopping it from demolishing his property.
The petition and application for temporary restraining order was filed Oct. 11 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the petition, the defendant has slated to demolish the plaintiff’s home and the plaintiff will lose all he has invested into the property if the city is not enjoined.
In his suit, the plaintiff says he has been working diligently to bring the home, located at 2655 Washington Blvd., up to code.
The plaintiff is asking that the court issue a TRO and award him court costs.
Beaumont attorney Thomas Moses represents him.
Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, is assigned to the case.
