Cafe Del Rio has filed a notice to take the deposition of plaintiff Shareka Broussard, who slipped and fell while in the restroom at the Mexican food restaurant.
As previously reported, on Dec. 17, 2012, she filed suit against CDR Beaumont, doing business as Cafe Del Rio, in Jefferson County District Court.
Nearly a year later, on Nov. 8 Cafe Del Rio filed a notice of intent to take the oral deposition of Broussard.
According to the lawsuit, on Dec. 16, 2010, Broussard was dining with co-workers at the Beaumont restaurant. While in bathroom, she slipped and fell on an unspecified liquid substance and injured herself.
The suit accuses CDR of negligently failing to warn her of the dangerous condition and inspect and maintain its premises.
Broussard is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain and lost wages.
Beaumont attorney Todd LeBlanc represents her.
The restaurant is represented by Beaumont attorney Karen Spivey of Pate & Spivey.
Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, is assigned to the case.
