Celling collapse results in suit against King’s Food Mart

Beaumont local Andrea Batiste is suing King’s Food Mart and Abusaleh Fard for injuries she received when a piece of ceiling allegedly collapsed and fell on her.

The suit was filed Nov. 21 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on April 19 Batiste was working for the defendants at their premises when a section of celling collapsed, falling on and injuring her.

The suit says King’s was a non-subscriber under the Texas Worker’s Compensation System.

The suit further accuses the defendants of negligently failing to provide a safe place to work.

The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages.

She is represented by Brett Thomas, attorney for the Beaumont law firm Roebuck, Thomas, Roebuck & Adams.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, is assigned to the case.
