Attorney Langston Adams, who operates a practice out of Port Arthur, has withdrawn as a candidate for the 252nd District Court.
Judge Layne Walker recently announced that he would not run for reelection.
Adams and Raquel West were the two contenders for the Democratic primary, but Adams informed the Southeast Texas Record that “after careful thought and prayer” he decided to withdraw.
“Under the current rushed circumstances with the last minute departure of Judge Walker, I am certain I could not give this campaign the excellence (needed),” Adams told the Record.
Carolyn Drawhorn Wiedenfeld is the only Republican running so far.
