Man alleges vessel knocked him off dock

Under the Jones Act, Bertrand Meche has filed suit against Inland Dredging, alleging he was injured when a vessel collided with the dock on which he was standing.

The suit was filed Dec. 18 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Nov. 9 the plaintiff was employed by the defendant and injured when a vessel collided with the dock he was on and knocked him over, injuring his lung, ribs, neck, shoulder and other parts of his body.

The suit accuses the defendant of negligently failing to supervise its crew and maintain the vessel.

The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment and lost wages.

He is represented by Houston attorney Jason Itkin of Arnold & Itkin.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court, is assigned to the case.
