Marshall's department store named as defendant in personal injury suit

Linda Reed filed suit Dec. 5 in the Collin County District Court, naming Marmaxx Operating Corp., doing business as Marshalls and the TJX Companies Inc. as the defendant.

Reed claims that on Nov. 29, 2011, she was injured while shopping at the Marshall's at 1601 Preston Road in Plano. Reed says she was shopping for shoes and sat down on a bench to try on a pair. When she stood up, she allegedly attempted to brace herself on a table which collapsed under her weight, resulting in her falling and being injured. Reed says what she thought was a table was actually a garbage can with a boot box sitting on top of it.

Reed claims her injuries were a result of Marshall's negligence and now seeks to hold it liable for her injuries and the costs associated therewith.

Reed is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages. She is being represented by attorney Patrick W. Powers.
