Health worker sues for benefits

Guerrini bernard1

A medical health worker is suing his employer’s insurance company regarding benefits.

Alan Guedry filed a lawsuit Jan. 13 in the United States District Court Eastern District of Texas, Marshall Division, against Life Insurance Company of North America, citing he is owed benefits accumulated while he worked at Good Shepherd Medical Center.

The lawsuit states Guedry suffers from several medical conditions and can no longer work and qualifies for disability, but was denied benefits. Any appeals through the insurance company has been exhausted, the complaint states.

The complaint also states the insurance company is operating on a conflict of interest because it both determines claims and pays claims.

Guedry is seeking full employee benefits determined to be owed, reinstatement to future benefits, pre-judgment and post judgment interest, plus court and attorneys fees.

He is being represented by private attorney Bernard Guerrini.

The case has been assigned to District Judge Rodney Gilstrap.
