A Hispanic worker is suing his former employer claiming he was the victim of racial discrimination.

Enrique Dominguez filed a lawsuit Jan. 29 in the U.S. Court for the Eastern District of Texas Marshall Division against Lufkin Industries Inc., citing civil rights violations.

Dominguez claims he was subjected to a hostile work environment while he worked at Lufkin Industries and his supervisor treated him differently than white employees. He alleges he was denied overtime, raises, flexibility in scheduling and training.

According to the complaint, Dominguez claims in 2012 he was disciplined after a white employee pushed him. On Sept. 13, 2012, Dominguez was terminated after his work on a milling machine had to be reworked or scrapped because the machine had been previously set incorrectly, the complaint states.

Dominguez had not been trained on that machine.

Dominguez is seeking both compensatory and punitive damages, plus court costs.

He is represented by William Hommel Jr. of the Hommel Law Firm.

The case has been assigned to District Judge Rodney Gilstrap and referred to Magistrate Judge Roy Payne for pretrial proceedings.
