A family is suing a driver and homeowner after their child was hit by a speeding car at an intersection.
Joseph Oglesby, as next friend of Holden Oglesby, a minor, filed a lawsuit Feb. 17 in the Galveston County Court against Teresa Ann Slovacek, Shahrokh Shahroodi and Centerpoint Energy Inc., citing negligence.
According to the complaint, on March 19, 2012, the defendant Slovacek was driving near the intersection of Fifth Street and Avenue B in Bacliff.
The complaint alleges the defendant exceeded the 20 mph speed limit and hit Holden Oglesby as he crossed Fifth Street, heading east.
According to the complaint, Holden's view of Slovacek's vehicle was obstructed by heavy vegetation growing on defendant Shahroodi's property on the corner of Avenue B and Fifth Street and underneath the power lines owned by the defendant CenterPoint Energy.
Oglesby is seeking damages between $200,000 and $1 million.
He is being represented by attorney David C. Wenholz of the Wenholz Law Firm PLLC in Austin.
